SMSi Supervision Plus App Release on Google Play

SMSi Supervision Plus is an addition to SMSi system. It brings all your shutdowns, turnarounds, and projects within the SMSi system into the palm of your hand.

Shutdown supervisors can use the App to update work progress, capture delays, register incidents, and add their comments.

The App helps supervisors to be more productive. They remain in the field and submit their updates via App. No need to walk or drive back to the office to provide updates anymore! No risk of losing data because it was written on a torn piece of paper!

Ultimately, STO Management gains further visibility and control over the execution of the shutdowns, turnarounds, or projects.

Here is what you will love about this App:

  • Access to all shutdowns, outages, and projects in your App
  • Go through the list of STOs to quickly select your shutdown
  • Go through your bucket of work, open your first job, and start update progress
  • Select delays from a pull-down menu as they occur
  • Register any incidents or injuries as they occur in the field
  • Add notes and easily share them with your teams
  • It’s that simple! And now STO teams will have visibility over progress … thanks to you!

Financial Perspective of Plant Shutdowns

Financial Perspective of Shutdowns

Miners are well aware of the importance of meeting annual forecasts and the impact on organisational value to its owners. Backlog maintenance and shutdown overruns are not uncommon problems for asset management teams. Building buffer stocks provides some protection against unplanned and planned downtime as the primary risk mitigation. While the supply chain constraint remains within the organisation’s processes, increasing plant availability becomes crucial to moving the constraint externally to customer demand where the journey continues.

No one likes surprises

As shutdown management practices evolve, organisations can leverage mobile-enabled digital platforms which encourage standardisation, interface with existing organisation systems and provide the level of visibility at the earliest possible timing of problems and opportunities to close gaps.

SMSi is a digital platform that provides the necessary transformation to both end-to-end shutdown process and how data is efficiently captured and effectively used. The cloud-based software has been designed by shutdown professionals extensively involved in managing and importantly improving shutdown performance.

The decision support tool gives shutdown managers the earliest visibility of how well the teams are tracking to be prepared for the shut as well as any delay triggering events as they are first identified by the shutdown teams on the ground.

SMSi Digital Shutdown Transformation

Importance of Business Partnership in Digital Shutdown Management

IMMS’ consistently applied standard processes enable shutdown teams to manage readiness, execution, and post-shutdown activities more efficiently.

Equipped with IMMS’ digital platform (SMSi), Shutdown teams manage end-to-end shutdown and turnaround processes in one single place.

In order to ensure a successful and smooth transition from ‘old ways’ to ‘the digital platform’ and to guarantee sustainability, IMMS is partnering with key shutdown experts, who see SMSi as the solution for complex shutdowns and who have experienced the complexity and associated challenges of such operations first hand.

The powerful partnership of XENCO and IMMS will deliver a successful transition to digital shutdown management whilst achieving the promised uplift in the overall shutdown performance.

Using Technology to Report Delays

The Challenge:

The recent shutdown event involved hundreds of people working day and night to complete a similar number of activities. Gathering delays in a standard format using a manual process can be a challenging assignment.

The Solution:

During a recent complex shutdown, Shutdown Supervisors, armed with their SMART Pads used the SMSi Supervision Plus app to capture and report hundreds of delay events. Reported delays were immediately available on the SMSi Execution Dashboard.

The Benefits:

Shutdown leaders had the right information at the right time to review priorities and tackle constraints. This ensured the critical path was supported as the priority.

After the shut, reported delays are analyzed to better understand the sources of critical path delays and other inefficiencies during the shutdown. This ultimately enables the organization to pursue its continuous improvement journey.

SMSi solution: Better Planning and Management of Readiness

The below question was asked in our February Smart Shutdown Collective webinar.

“What are your top shutdown concerns or frustrations?

  1. Lack of preparation and readiness
  2. Poor work scoping
  3. Capability and quality of contractors
  4. Ineffective shutdown management systems
  5. Parts tracking and management “

33% responded, “Lack or preparation and readiness!”

7% responded, “Poor work scoping!”

20% responded, “Capability and quality of contractors!”

40% responded, “Ineffective shutdown management systems!”

0% responded, “Parts tracking and management!”

The good news is that IMMS can help and offer a solution that improves preparation & readiness, and the effectiveness of the shutdown process. The solution, SMSi enables better planning and management of readiness by:

  • Start your readiness process by building a visible major events calendar;
  • Build your readiness activities and key milestones and manage their completion with full visibility;
  • Define your leading KPIs, and track performance against them to mitigate risk while increasing confidence in delivering a successful shutdown or project;
  • Monitor execution gaps, and set and drive actions to close performance gaps;
  • Benefit from visual management, reports, and a dashboard to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
